Halloween

This year our Halloween was a little different. Since Halloween was on a Sunday the boys only got to go trick or treating once. Normally, we get to go trick or treating three times. The boys were bummed when they realized this, but candy tends to sweeten the deal!

Friday before Halloween I took the boys to Chad's work for trick or treating. The boys really like going to Chad's work. His office does a good job of making it a fun experience for the kids. Not only do the kids get to trick or treat, but they get a fun gift. Usually they give them a Halloween goblet filled with games, flashlight and candy. The boys love using the goblets all month long!

Saturday was a little crazy. The boys had their final soccer games and soccer awards. In the middle of it all we had the ward Halloween party. We were able to go to everything. However, we were only able to attend part of the Halloween party.

Our ward Halloween party is a lot of fun. It is held at a member's farm. We barbecue hot dogs and smores, have a chili cook-off, a hayride and trunk or treating. We got to go on the hayride (although the tire blew while we were on it) and we got to eat. Kaden did a good job roasting our hot dogs. We also enjoyed tasting the chili. When we were done eating we had to run back to the soccer field, so unfortunately the boys didn't get to go trunk or treating. It was still a fun party!

By the time we got home everyone was pretty tired. We got everyone fed and cleaned-up and then I looked over and saw that Austin had fallen asleep at the table. It was really cute and told the story of how everyone was feeling.

Sunday was a nice relaxing day. I got up before the kids, so I decided to make a fun breakfast. I made pumpkin pancakes. I had fun transforming the pancakes into Jack-o-lanterns. The boys got really excited when they saw what I was making. It was fun to see the boys reaction. It was a fun way to start the day.

After church, we enjoyed a nice afternoon and evening. We went on a family walk in downtown and then we came back for our traditional pizza dinner.

Towards the end of dinner the trick or treaters started coming. The boys had a lot of fun handing out the candy. Devon was the most excited. He sat on the stairs with the bowl of candy and waited for the doorbell to ring. Once he heard the bell he was the first one to the door!

Before the trick or treaters came we all made a guess at how many trick or treaters we would have. Kaden took it upon himself to keep a tally. We had around 76 kids come by. Chad's guess was the closest!

Chad and I decided that this was the way to do Halloween! It was a lot less stressful. It was a great way to end a busy weekend.

Again Austin was worn out. He fell asleep in his plate this time!
