Cooling off at the pool

One thing we all look forward to during the summer is going to the pool! Growing up I spent every summer at the pool, so it seems natural for me. My boys must have the pool gene also, because they love the water! We usually spend 3 to 4 days at the pool each week.

It was a special treat to have Nana and Papa come with us to the pool. We had to do a little rummaging around to find some swimming suits (they forgot their suits), but we soon found something to work for both of them.

We all loved playing in the water. The temperature plus the humidity has been brutal lately, so the pool was refreshing. It was a good thing too, because my boys love to splash anyone close by!

The boys also love to hang on us and ride around the pool, especially Trevor. Chad and Papa got the brunt of that deal - I know they secretly loved it.

While Chad and Papa were giving rides, Tanner was getting some instruction from Nana on his stroke. I guess he must have liked her advice, because a little later I saw him giving her the spa treatment!

Devon is our little diver/jumper. He loves to jump off the diving board whenever it is open. It is so fun to watch him. He always has the brightest smile on his face as he emerges from the diving pool.

After the pool we had to take Nana and Papa to our favorite place. A couple of blocks from the pool, there is a great little outdoor soft serve ice cream place. It is the perfect place to go after a fun afternoon of swimming. The only problem is the heat. It's a race against time to eat the whole ice cream cone before it melts all over your hand. We are always up to the challenge - so were Nana and Papa!

I had fun watching Austin and Devon eat their ice cream. They were both seated so they could see the road. Every time a car or motorcycle came by Austin would inform Devon what vehicle was coming. Devon would quickly look up and both boys would watch intently as the vehicle passed by.

We were able to go swimming with Nana and Papa twice. It was a lot of fun. It was a nice break for me. I actually got to swim by myself for once. Thanks Mom and Dad!

Wow - 3 to 4 times a week at the pool? We don't even go that much! :) Well, unless we are doing swim lessons...
