Halloween

Halloween was on a Monday this year. The boys don't often like getting up early for school every Monday morning, but as you might guess this morning was different. We started off with special halloween pancakes. I colored the batter orange (and some green) and made pumpkin faces for the boys. It was fun and a bit tricky to get the faces to look good, but by the last pancake the faces were looking good. I enjoy making special holiday pancakes for the boys. It is my little fun treat for them. Plus, it helps that they enjoy it as well!

Once the kids got home from school they quickly completed their homework and then we made pizza. This year the boys got to make their own pizzas. They always have fun putting their own toppings on their very own pizza!

While eating our pizza the doorbell began to ring - trick or treating had officially begun! The boys quickly finished eating and got into their costumes.

This year Tanner decided he was too old to trick or treat, so he stayed home to pass out the candy. He missed getting the candy, but he really enjoyed giving the candy to all the kids that came by our house. It was a great help to me, especially since Chad was out of town.

I took the rest of the boys trick or treating around our neighborhood. Usually by Halloween the boys have already gone trick or treating twice, so they don't care about going to all the houses in our neighborhood. This year however, they had different plans. They were rearing to go and as a result we stayed out longer than I had anticipated. They all had fun though!

Devon was the first one at every house and the first one to leave. I told Devon he had to wait for his brothers before he could knock on any door. He did wait, but that didn't stop him from running ahead to the next house every time! Austin was also very excited about trick or treating. This year he started to understand what was going on and he was all for it! He would have right up there with Devon, except that his bag got heavy quick and it slowed him down a bit. Trevor and Kaden were also excited, but they knew they didn't have to run to be rewarded with a treat. Plus, many times they slowed down to help Austin. Trick or treating was fun, but when we got home we were more than happy to sit down and relax!

Relax we did, right in front of the TV watching the traditional Charlie Brown Halloween movie. Watching this movie has become a favorite tradition of the boys, the movie never gets old! What a great day!
