Court of Honor

We haven't had a lot of time to work on scouts with Tanner this year. His homework load has been pretty intense, so he hasn't had much free time. Tanner has been very close to passing off his requirements for First and Second Class for a while though. When we found out his troop was going to have a Court of Honor soon we decided to give scouts a little more attention. Tanner worked really hard and was able to finish all of his requirements.

The Scoutmaster wanted to change things up a bit, so he held the Court of Honor at the Four Corners Monument downtown. It is a nice monument right by the river, but it's kind of in the center of everything. It was a little weird doing the ceremony with so many people, some of which were loud or playing music, nearby.

Part of the nights events included a crossover ceremony for some new scouts. Lining the path they would take hung the Coat of Arms for each of the current scouts. Each scout learned about and designed their own coat of arms at a previous activity. This was the first time we had seen Tanner's final product. Tanner did a good job! They all looked neat lining the path.

The path lead past the new logo and troop flag to a line of scouts waiting to welcome the new scouts into the troop.

It took a while for the crossing over ceremony, so by the time they got to the awards part of the program they rushed through it. It was getting pretty dark and many of the families had to get back to the church to pick up their other kids. Getting his awards was kind of anticlimactic for Tanner, but we are still really proud of him for working hard to finish all his requirements!
