I hope they call me on a Mission

For several years now I have heard my parents have talked about going on a mission. They waited for my dad to retire submitting their papers. Well, the time finally arrived! My parents submitted their papers in May and waited anxiously, every Wednesday, for the mail to arrive!

My parents wanted the entire family to be a present when they opened their call, but we were all in various parts of the United States. We looked for ways to make it happen. Finally, Misty found a solution - a web conference call. It was perfect. We did a practice run on Mother's Day and it worked like a charm. The only thing left to do was wait for the call to come.

The first week of June the mission call came. On Friday, June 3rd, at 6:30 pm, Mountain Standard Time, we all logged onto the web call to hear my parents read their letter. It was really exciting! My parents were pretty eager, so they thanked everyone for coming or listening in and then my Dad opened the letter. As he read the letter, we soon found out my parents were called to serve in the . . .

Canada Montreal Mission! Wow, we were all so excited! My parents were hoping to serve outside the United States and they were hoping to use their french. My dad served his mission in France and my mom knows a little french. What at wonderful call!

They are set to report to the MTC on the 8th of August. That is a significant date. It is my dad's father's birthday. He passed away six years ago, so it was neat to feel like he was part of this.

We are very excited for my parents to serve their mission. What a wonderful example they are setting for our boys. They will do an amazing job! We can't wait to hear about their mission over the next 18 months! Congratulations Mom and Dad!
