Christmas vacation 2014

We've had a wonderful fun-filled vacation! We spent our Christmas break in Utah again this year. We did many of the same things we did in 2013, but we also added some new activities. We were also glad that Layne and Aaron were able to come to Mom and Dad's house as well!

We started off the fun by watching the BYU bowl game at the BYU Broadcasting Center. My parents were able to get tickets for all of us to watch the game there. They also got Ashlyn a little present to wear to the game.  So cute!

Watching the game also included being in the studio audience for the live pre and post-game shows. We weren't sure if the younger kids would be able to make it that long, but you can leave early, so we thought we would give it a try.

Being a part of the audience for the pre-game show was fun. I was a little worried though because it has to be quiet (unless clapping or cheering). Ashlyn was my biggest concern. She's never had to sit quietly for an hour and I worried she would have a problem. I was pleasantly surprised though, she did awesome, as did all of her brothers. I was amazed, but she really got into it!! I only had to take her out once and that was because she fell and got hurt.

Once the pre-game show was over, the set was cleared and a huge screen was lowered. It was fun watching the game with a large group of people! We even sang the Cougar Fight song every time BYU scored. We got to sing it so many times that Austin and Ashlyn started picking up on the words!

Part of the fun of watching the game at the studio was at halftime they fed us pizza!  It was yummy!!

We had a great time watching the game!

Unfortunately, BYU lost the game and to make matters worse, they lost their cool and got into fights with the other team. It was disappointing to see the players, on both teams, acting so childishly.

We didn't stay for the post-game show, not because the game was disappointing, but because we were rushing off to another event - the Nutcracker!  Chad and I both grew up going to see the Nutcracker at Christmas and we want to keep that tradition alive. This year, we were excited for our youngest children to see the Nutcracker for the first time - especially Ashlyn!

When we arrived Ashlyn was Papa's little buddy!  She wanted to sit on his lap.  It was fun to watch the two of them together!

It was really fun to watch Ashlyn. She was somewhat transfixed watching all the dancers and seeing all the special effects! I love those moments!!

We are so glad we were able to make this trip again this Christmas!  We love spending time with Nana and Papa!  When we got home we took our traditional Christmas shot by the Christmas tree.

While we were trying to round everyone up, some of the boys were deep in thought!
