A New Roof

Several months ago we had some severe weather that did damage to many people's roofs.  We saw roofers in our neighborhood for months, so we decided to have our roof checked out.  Sure enough, we had roof damage also.  We were lucky enough to have the insurance company cover the costs of a new roof!



The roofing company we chose told us they could fix our roof in one day.  They brought an army of men and they got to work fast.  They finished the roof as the sun was going down.  We were afraid that they would have to come back another day, but they were determined to finish.

The boys enjoyed watching the progress - even though they had to stay inside the house.

They did a good job on the roof, but since they were rushing at the end, they didn't do the best job on clean up.  Our neighbor had warned us to make sure to wear our shoes outside after the roof was done because we would find lots of roofing nails all over the place.  She wasn't kidding.  We found a ton - almost a whole jar full.  Our neighbor let us borrow her big magnet and we walked back and forth all over the yard and driveway.  We were amazed how many nails we picked up (even after going over the same spots several times).

Several months later, we are still finding nails.  The jar is almost full now!

We are glad to have a new roof, but we are glad we don't have to do it again anytime soon!
