Kaden Earned His Wolf

It was close, he finished just in time! Kaden earned his Wolf Badge in Cub Scouts and has moved up to the Bear Den. He had until his birthday to complete all of the requirements. We had big plans to finish his requirements over Christmas, but we spent our time with family instead. We cut it a little close, but Kaden was determined to finish.

Kaden was so excited to get his Wolf Badge! He also received a silver and a gold arrowhead at pack meeting. When you are awarded your rank badge you have to wear it upside down until you do a good deed and then you can turn it right side up.

A couple of days after pack meeting it snowed again and school was cancelled. It was snowing when Chad left for work, so he didn't clear the driveway. About mid-morning I told the boys we needed to go outside and shovel the driveway (cue whining and moaning!). Once we got outside the boys got to work and we had the driveway cleared before Chad came home for lunch. Right before Chad got home I started clearing the walk in front of our neighbors house. Kaden suggested that he could clear our neighbors driveway as his good deed. I thought it was a great idea and joined him in his effort.

When we were finished Kaden wanted to go tell our neighbor what we had done. I explained to him that it wasn't necessary and that sometimes it is better to do something nice without being acknowledged. He was a little unsure, but decided not to tell our neighbor. A couple of days later we got a little package in our mailbox. There was card and a gift from our neighbor thanking us for our kindness. When Kaden saw who the note was from his face lit up. He felt really good inside knowing that his good deed had been noticed and appreciated.

Good job Kaden! You are growing up to be a great young man! Keep up the good work.
