This year Chad and I decided that less was more. We felt like we were focusing too much on presents and not enough on the true meaning of Christmas. So we decided to make some changes. The first change was to reduce the number of gifts the boys would receive (we actually try to do this every year!). We even mentioned to grandparents that scaling down would be a good idea. The second change we made was in the gifts we give each other. Last year we told the boys they could only give a gift to their brother they had made. This year we took it a step further. We told the boys that we would also be making gifts for cousins as well (we even convinced our extended family to do the same). It turned out really well. The boys had a lot of fun making gifts they knew their cousins would like! Check out some of the gifts they made.
As a result of these changes we had a really nice Christmas morning that didn't last all day. No one complained about the number of presents they received (or didn't receive), and the boys were more interested in watching other people open their gifts.
We had a nice relaxing morning and a lazy day of playing around with our cousins, setting up iPods, and building robots.
