We have had a wonderful holiday weekend. It was nice to spend time with our "little" family. We have been so busy lately, so it was great to slow down and just hang out. We started our day playing soccer and kickball at a local park with several families from our ward. We had a great time, but the boys weren't quite satisfied when everyone started to head home around lunch time. So, we decided to stick around for a little while longer and play a game of baseball.

After lunch, we headed to the pool for a couple of hours. The pool was fairly crowded when we first arrived, but people soon began to head out for their Memorial Day festivities, so we had a little more room to play around. The boys are all getting bigger now and tend to forget that they need to be careful around other people, especially in the shallow end of the pool where the little kids hang out.
After we swam, we headed home for a family barbecue. The food was delicious and the company was superb. Anyone who has shared a meal with us understands how entertaining the conversation can be around our dinner table. We all had a good time talking and laughing together. We talked about the great sacrifices that our military service men and women make for our country. We listened to the rain as a thunder storm rolled by and we laughed as the boys tried to outdo one another by telling just "one more" joke. This is a great time in our lives and as the years start to go by quickly, I hope that we will have enough wisdom to slow down and savor the time that we have to spend with one another each day. Today we did.

We went to the pool today too. But it was so ridiculously crowded it wasn't even fun. No room to play or swim. There must have been 5,000 people - no joke! Of course, it was 100 degrees out...
This was exactly what I needed to see today! I'm having a hard time coming to grips saying goodbye to London, and this post reminded we what I love about the USA! Next year the last weekend in May wont' be a "bank holiday!" By the way your family is NOT little!
Fun! Love the cannonball pic. The pictures of the food are making me hungry!
